Speeches
Kaitlyn’s Speech for President
Good morning everybody! My name is Kaitlyn Catalano and I am running to be the President of The United States. I believe I am the best possible candidate for this position because of my new and creative ideas. My commitment to improving the lives of every American is unmatched by any other candidate. I think one of the most important steps in improving the lives of all Americans is equality for everyone no matter who you are or what you look like. Whether equality means safer treatment of our animals or making sure every American has a warm bed to sleep in. My goal is to make America a safe place for our families to grow and succeed.
Here are some of the important issues I am currently focusing on...
Important issues:
Ethical treatment of animals. Cruelty towards animals happens more often than you think. Every single day animals, just like your adorable, fun, and loved pets at home, are abused by their owners. If you vote me for president I am going to push towards ending the abuse to animals, including farm animals, and strengthen our enforcement of the existing laws. Another type of cruelty towards animals is using animals as test subjects to test products like Windex, Band-Aids, Kleenex, Vaseline, and many more. If you vote for me as your president I will redirect the money paid by the National Institutes of Health away from animal experiments and more towards direct health care, preventive medicine, and biomedical research using non-animal procedures such as clinical, epidemiological, and cell culture research. I am against cruelty towards animals and you should be too.
Housing Homelessness. Being homeless should not be a crime and it is a large problem in the United States. Voting for me as your president would ensure that homeless people would have a voice. I will work towards strengthening and increasing the funding for mental health and drug rehabilitation, this will help keep people off the streets and working towards being safe. I will put policies and funding in place that teach the homeless to have a voice and understand the laws and regulations that apply to them. Allowing the National Guard Armory to be opened for anyone without shelter during freezing temperatures. These are members of our society and they have a right to be treated with human dignity and should not fear criminal actions just to sleep.
Climate Change. Climate change is the biggest environmental, social, and economic threat humanity has ever had. Across the world, it is causing vanishing polar ice, melting glaciers, growing deserts, stronger storms, rising oceans, less biodiversity, deepening droughts, as well as more disease, hunger, strife and human misery. If i am voted the president I will push to stop the runaway climate change, by reducing the number of greenhouse gases being released. Greenhouse gases warm the Earth by trapping heat in the atmosphere. Much of that heat is initially absorbed by the ocean, creating roughly a 30-year delay in the impact of that heat at the surface of the planet. This is slowly destroying the earth we live on, and if we do nothing about it we won’t have a earth to live on.
Lilly's Speech for Vice President
Hi my name is Lillian Howard I am running to be your green party vice president. Since Freshman year of highschool i have been in student council, something I decided to join to help build up my school community. Ever since a young age I have been passionate about issues such as zero waste. Our planet is everything, without it we wouldn’t have lives to improve. We need to spend more time focusing on our carbon footprint. Every minute one garbage truck worth of trash is dumped into the ocean. Killing and damaging ecosystems that have thrived for millions of years. We are causing our planet to be inhabitable slowly but surely and it’s a problem that needs to be addressed. If me and Katie are elected we will pay close attention to these issues.
Something that me and Katie are also very passionate about is immigration. Our country has been grown on multiple cultures together. These people need our help to have better lives and we need to make that happen. Of course we can’t let everyone in but the last thing we need is to build a wall and shut them out. As a country we need to learn to be more understanding and not as quick to jump to conclusions about others. I believe Katie and I will make our country a saver happier place if you vote for us.
